Records of the Virginia Council on Human Relations, 1957-1973.

Collection consists chiefly of the official minutes of both the executive committee and of the board of directors, but also contains financial reports, general correspondence, and miscellenea. Also included are agendas and topical reports, clippings and memberships, chiefly of the state council. Many deal with special projects particularly the Frederick Douglass Fellowships in Journalism. Others reflect the Council's interest in prison reform, paramedic service in rural counties, malnutrition in poor counties and inner cities, and racial imbalance in state employment. There are also similar papers from the Charlottesville-Albemarle and Martin Luther King (University) chapters, most of which concern substandard housing; and related material from the Southern Regional Council.
